Episcopal Nursery School offers two classes for the 2017 - 2018 school year.

3-year-old Class 

Daily Routine and  Class

Tuesdays and Thursdays
9AM - 1PM  


Daily Routine 

9:00-9:40  

Welcome children, find cubbies and take care of backpacks, lunch and coats.  Manipulative toys are placed around the room and are used to help develop fine motor skills.  Often Miss Donna will use this time to work with individuals or small groups on different activities that go along with monthly topics. Miss Wendy will assist children with puzzles and games and will help guide sharing and a friendly play environment.

9:45-10:15  

Circle Time

During this time we introduce the jobs and helpers, say the Pledge of Allegiance, talk about the weather,calendar activities and discuss the day’s activities.  Stories are read at this time, use of flannel board and large group discussions.  The children are learning to sit still, take turns and listen to others.


10:15-10:30  

Tuesday - set up for snack and class show and tell (1/2 class)

Thursday - set up for snack and music

10:45-11:00  Recess on nice days, music and movement on indoor days

Center Time/Dramatic Play

The children work in small groups with Miss Wendy to complete an art project using a variety of art mediums and techniques. They are learning to listen and follow directions.  Miss Donna will work on a project relating to the monthly topics: shapes, colors and/or numbers.  This time is used to develop a new skill or assess those already introduced.

Daily Routine

9:00-9:30

Welcome children, sign in, find cubbies and check school bags.  We are encouraging them to be responsible and independent.  Manipulative toys are placed around the room and are used to help develop fine motor skills.  Miss Donna will use this time to check homework one on one with the children, practice formation of numbers and letters using white boards and chalk boards or help individuals that may need a little extra attention.


9:30-10:15

Circle Time 

We introduce the jobs and helpers, say the Pledge of Allegiance,talk about the weather, do calendar activities and discuss the day’s topic.  We introduce letter activities,letter table, stories are read, use of flannel board and large group discussion.


10:15-10:30

Large Group Instruction

This is when we complete letter formation papers and phonics papers.  We do this as a large group to prepare for Kindergarten. Miss Wendy and Miss Donna work together to help the children complete the task.
